Countdown Assignment
I worked with my twin sister, Tessa Joyce, to create this animated countdown sequence. Although the assignment was meant to produce a quick countdown that would go before an animation reel, ours went quite a bit longer than 5 seconds so that we could show off the characters we included. These characters are ones from our Dungeons & Dragons campaigns, some of which are featured on this website.
The final animation and asset pages were presented at UW-Whitwater's 2020 MAGD Expo.

Character Assets Page
Each character is paired with another, one played by Tessa and the other by myself. These assets were sketched in Procreate and finalized in Illustrator before being uploaded to AfterEffects for the final animation.

Character Assets Poster
A poster-style display of the character assets, with my sister and I in the center, our player characters flanking us. Can you tell which is which?

Kinetic Type Assignment
A kinetic type video featuring dramatic dialogue from the opening sequence of CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher III: Wild Hunt.

Storyboard
A storyboard featuring some scenes from the video. Early on, I knew I wanted to visualize the Conjunction of the Spheres with circular text spinning like a wheel, and knew it would be a key feature for a chunk of dialogue.

Design Board
Black, white, and red are the colors of The Witcher III’s logo, and the font I chose resembles those used in early printing presses, which comes close to the era the game technically takes place in.
Explainer
For this assignment, students had to create an animated infographic to a pre-recorded script. This one broke down the 2016 United States Presidential Election, emphasizing the purpose of the Electoral College.

Design Board
All the assets used in the video as well as color and font tests. These were all made in Illustrator.

Uncommercial
An assignment where students made a satirical commercial. I decided to make mine targeted at a certain gaming company that is big on microtransactions and recently defended loot boxes as “fun surprise mechanic.” To the left is the complete animated commercial, and below is the fictional company's logo animation.

Asset Collection
A collection of assets used in the final uncommercial, including the deluxe items like the rail gun and flaming longsword and the free items like the dinky plank and broken slingshot. And, of course, the loot box.

Logo Design Board
Various concepts and style frames for the fake company logo.
Dynamic Graph
A short assignment where students were challenged to make data look interesting. I decided a “ring chart” would be fun to do.

Dynamic Text
Another little assignment where students fooled around with depicting a word’s meaning through animation.

Dynamic Motion
Students were asked to depict a design element in art in a video sequence, and I chose to demonstrate hierarchy.
